MALVERN, PA, March 23, 2016 -- One Green Apple, LLC, announced today that Richard Binswanger has joined the Company as Chief Academic Officer.  Binswanger is responsible for the design and implementation of OPUS℠, One Green Apple’s family engagement platform, so it will effectively build strong partnerships between individual parents and their child’s teachers. He is a key member of One Green Apple’s business development team and serves on its Advisory Board as well.

One Green Apple, LLC is a growing company focused on simplifying and strengthening one of the most unrealized assets in education – the parent-teacher partnership. Its OPUS platform is the first of its kind designed specifically to facilitate and quantify the impact family engagement has on student success in both public and private school communities throughout the country.

Throughout a career spanning just under 40 years, Richard has worked in all aspects of schools, as teacher, coach, principal, board member, and board chair and in grades K-12. With a MS degree in Computer Science from Villanova and doctoral work in education at Penn, Richard has spent much of his career developing ways to use technology to aid student success. He is currently helping a number of organizations with strategic approaches to improving education in the Philadelphia region and beyond.

“When parents involve themselves appropriately and work effectively with teachers in support of their child’s success, that student will almost always do better. Such engagement is one of the most straightforward ways we know to improve student learning. At One Green Apple, we have been working on creating a platform that makes it easy for that involvement to occur and for the first time to be measured.”

Binswanger joins seasoned business leaders experienced in developing patented, data-driven information management technologies. These technologies encourage and support new ways of thinking and doing to drive scalable change for clients at the crossroads of innovation and efficiency.

Joe Fratoni, President of One Green Apple shared “Richard is an unyielding advocate for social innovation. He brings both a critical and a creative perspective to issues, which is a great benefit to us and to the countless schools that rely on his guidance and leadership. His knowledge and experience working directly with educators, administrators, and families adds to our deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that exist in education today. We’re excited to have him on board!”

About One Green Apple, LLC

With OPUS, One Green Apple offers a complete ecosystem for family engagement that is linked to learning. OPUS joins existing student performance information from school with data and insights from home to report grades, behavior, and other critical factors in an easy-to-understand context, via a two-way, school-owned communication system – all of which opens the door for more parents to coordinate and collaborate with their student’s teacher to support learning.  School administrators gain real-time visibility to manage and assess the development and effect of parent-teacher partnerships on student and teacher performance. With new metrics available through OPUS, administrators are better able to make data-driven decisions that improve overall student success while expanding and fortifying the broader school community.
