Welcome to OPUS! We’re here to make your life easier, keep you in the loop, and help you support your child’s learning journey. Below, you'll find a handy guide on how to use OPUS, along with answers to some frequently asked questions .

🚀 Step 1: Logging In

You'll receive a text message with a special link to access OPUS. Since there’s no app yet (but we’re working on it!), OPUS is available on your browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge). Here’s what to do:

  • Click the link in the text message.

  • Fill out a quick form with your name, email, and password.

  • Confirm that you’re adding your student to your account.

  • Click "Yes"—and boom, you’re in! Your student’s classes and info are already connected.

🌟 Step 2: Onboarding Tour & Saving OPUS to Your Home Screen

Once logged in, OPUS will walk you through a quick tour of the platform.

For easy access, you’ll be prompted to save OPUS as an icon on your phone’s home screen—so it feels just like an app!

🎯 Step 3: Setting Up Your Profile

Head to your profile to personalize your experience:

  • Choose which alerts you want to receive and how (text or email).

  • Update your email/password anytime.

  • Upload a profile picture.


🏡 Step 4: Filling Out "About [Student’s Name]"

To help teachers understand your child better, you can fill out the "About [Student’s Name]" section. This is accessed by clicking into your child’s tile and navigating to the student menu. Here, you can update:

  • Family background

  • Expectations for each class

  • Your child's activities

📊 Step 5: Tracking Your Child’s Progress

 
 

On OPUS, you’ll see a color-coded view of your child's performance:

  • 🟢 Green: Your child is doing well.

  • 🟡 Yellow: There may be areas for improvement.

  • 🔴 Red: Your child may need extra support.

You’ll also see a happy/sad face system that compares progress to your expectations. Curious about how they’re doing in class? You can drill down to see:

  • Assessment

  • Project

  • Homework

  • Other

These categories are mapped to different types of work. If you have any questions about what goes where, talk to your child's teacher!

📩 Step 6: Messaging Your Child’s Teacher

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

🔍 General Questions

What browsers are supported?
OPUS works best on Chrome, Safari, and Edge. If you’re using an outdated browser, try updating it for the best experience.

Can I use OPUS on my phone?
Yes! While there’s no app yet, you can add OPUS to your home screen for quick access.

How do I update my account info?
Just go to your profile to update your email, password, or profile picture anytime.

What is a Follower, and how do I add one?
A Follower is someone (like a grandparent or second parent) who can view your child’s grades, expectations, and communications in read-only mode.

To add a Follower:

  • Go to your profile settings.

  • Enter their email address.

  • They’ll receive an invite to create a read-only OPUS account.

What if I forget my password?
No worries! Just click "Forgot Password" on the login screen. You’ll be prompted to enter your email address, and if an account is associated with that email, you’ll receive a link to reset your password. Once reset, return to the login screen and sign in with your new password.

🔔 Alerts & Notifications

When will I receive alerts?

  • Teacher messages are sent instantly.

  • Grade and expectation updates are compiled and sent once a day.

Can I choose how I get alerts?
Yes! In your profile, you can choose to receive alerts via text or email.

📚 Student Performance

What do the colors (green/yellow/red) mean?

  • Green = Your child is doing great!

  • Yellow = There may be some areas to work on.

  • Red = Your child needs extra attention.

What’s the “Happy/Sad Face” system?
This compares how your child’s performance aligns with your expectations.

  • 😊 = Expectations met

  • 😟 = Expectations not met

What kind of assignments will I see?
You can see:

  • Assessment

  • Project

  • Homework

  • Other

If you're unsure how a specific assignment is categorized, reach out to your child's teacher!

Can I see how my child is doing compared to other students?
Yes! You’ll see an anonymous comparison of your child’s performance with other students in the class. You’ll also see gray circles representing parents who aren’t engaged—so you know how involved other families are.
